High-reliability (hi-rel) frequency dividers have been developed in bands from 0.5 to 18.0 GHz. Available in divide-by-two, four, five, eight, and 10 configurations, the frequency-divider modules are well-suited for use with phase-locked loops (PLLs) in frequency synthesizers. Based on GaAs heterojunction-bipolar-transistor (HBT) monolithic-microwave-integrated-circuit (MMIC) technology, the frequency dividers operate on a single +5-V dc supply and can achieve typical additive phase noise of –155 dBc/Hz offset 100 kHz from the carrier. They provide output-power levels from –1 to –4 dBm and are qualified to EAR99 requirements. All models come with field-replaceable SMA connectors in Kovar packages and meet MIL-STD-883 requirements. They have an operating temperature range of –55 to +85°C.
