A next-generation data acquisition unit (DAU) has been developed for flight test applications. Optimized for size, weight, and power (SWaP), the modular Axon DAU works with the firm’s Acra KAM-500 DAU chassis while reducing volume by 55% and weight by 70% compared to traditional data acquisition systems. Suitable for flight test instruments, airborne telemetry, and flight data monitoring, the DAU features a serial backplane with 1 Gb/s per module acquisition speed. The housings for the modules, which can be placed as far as 20 m from the chassis, are less than 8 cubic inches in volume. The Axon DAU is configured using the company’s DAS Studio setup software.
